  • We are looking for an experienced climate scientist to strengthen our research on climate prediction, climate impacts, and climate risk management. We offer a permanent position as Senior Researcher (Forsker II) or Researcher (Forsker III), depending on experience, in the Climate Systems and Climate Services division of NORCE Research in Bergen, Norway.About NORCE Climate Systems and Climate Services divisionOur division has approximately 60 researchers conducting both basic and applied research on past, present and future climate. The working environment will be in the Climate Risk group in Bergen, which focuses on research on climate prediction. The multidisciplinary group consists of meteorologists, climatologists, and social scientists, where everyone works closely with stakeholders.We are hosting Climate Futures, a Centre for Research-Based Innovation focused on Climate Risk, and we have a diverse portfolio of projects funded by the EU, the Research Council of Norway, NORAD (The Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation), and industry.About the positionDepending on the competence and background, we would like to involve the candidate in ongoing projects, such as the Horizon Europe project ACACIA (Anticipatory Climate Adaptation for Communities in Africa), the NORAD-funded project ARCS (Agricultural resilience through climate services), and Climate Futures which is a centre for research-based innovation. ACACIA and ARCS aim to provide at-risk people in sub-Saharan Africa with climate information to strengthen their resilience to droughts, flooding, and tropical cyclones.
