- Research Assistant – CAMELOT: Long-term Climate GovernanceA 50% Research Assistant position for six months is available in the ERC-funded research project CAMELOT – Capacities for More Effective Long-term Climate Governance, based at Oslo Business School, Oslo Metropolitan University (OsloMet).The research assistant will be based in the academic unit Public Administration and Governance at Oslo Business School.About CAMELOTMany of today's most consequential governance challenges, including climate change and Earth system risks, unfold over decades, centuries, or longer. Yet political institutions and decision-making processes often struggle to engage effectively with such long-term futures.CAMELOT investigates the capacities that enable individuals, groups, and institutions to think about and govern for the long term. The project develops new theory on long-term governance capacities and studies how such capacities can be strengthened through experimental and participatory research. It brings together insights from political science, public administration, environmental governance, sustainability science, futures studies, psychology, and related fields.CAMELOT is a five-year research project funded by a European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator Grant and led by associate professor Manjana Milkoreit at OsloMet.About the positionThe Research Assistant will support research within CAMELOT, particularly theoretical and conceptual work on long-term governance capacities (WP1) and the development of experimental research on long-term climate governance (WP2).Key tasks will include:identifying, collecting, organizing, and synthesizing relevant academic literature across several fieldsconducting targeted background research and preparing research summaries and short research memos to support the development of academic publicationssupporting manuscript preparation, including reference management, citation checking, formatting, and preparation of supplementary materialssupporting the development of experimental treatments through literature reviews, background research, and preparation of research and design meetingsresearching potential partners, research sites, and other resources relevant to the development and implementation of CAMELOT's experimental workQualification requirementsApplicants should have:a Master's degree, or be close to completing a master's degree, in political science, public administration, environmental governance, sustainability science, environmental social science, or another field relevant to CAMELOTstrong skills in finding, evaluating, and synthesizing academic literaturestrong analytical and academic writing skillsexcellent written and spoken Englishthe ability to work carefully, independently, and systematically while contributing to a collaborative research environmentIt is an advantage, but not a requirement, to have experience or demonstrated interest in one or more areas relevant to CAMELOT, such as climate or environmental governance, anticipatory governance, futures studies, political psychology, or experimental social science.
